The Best & Worst Dressed List
I love the Emmys. Fashion and TV in one night (two of my favorite things) and Television seems extra hot right now with big movie stars & Netflix blowing up the small screen which all makes for a night of ridiculously amazing fashions.Best Dressed
January Jones - This Mad Men star followed the red trend of the evening though the textured fabric has a little something extra, which added some rich depth. It is broken up with sleek black accents. My favorite thing about this dress is the shape, how it cuts shorter in the front before trailing in the back. It is the perfect way to show off those killer black shoes. I also liked her messy bangs. Get it Betty.

Keke Palmer - Her stunning sapphire gown made her a fashion stand out. However, from the side could almost see her entire breast at times. I realize showing a little side-boob is hot right now but there are limits and things like tape to help avoid showing the goods.

Julia Roberts - She dazzled all in a blue gem mini dress which showed off her legs. This woman still puts the pretty in Pretty Woman and she did it wonderfully. I am also shocked she didn't win for her role in The Normal Heart, though I love Kathy Bates in Coven.

Hayden Patinierre - This is how a woman with a baby bump should dress for the red carpet. She was channeling Greek goddess in a silver/nude number that accentuated her curves in all the right ways.

Taylor Schilling - Taylor strutted her stuff in this simple yet elegant nude dress. The earring cuff she wore that covered the bottom of her earlobe was brilliantly chosen and deserved a second picture. I think she looks wonderful but I can't help wonder why she didn't work a pop of orange into her ensemble- even a piece of jewelry or her clutch.

Gwen Stefani - The rockstar channeled Donatella and Cleopatra in this hot two piece by Versace. I love when rockstars dress up for award shows, sparkles and all.

Honorable Mention
Sarah Hyland - The Modern Family star showed us just how grown up she is in this two piece eye catching getup. The skirt color is spot on, standing out from the carpet. Though differing in length and color it reminds us of a number Jessica Alba wore this award season.

Allison Janey - She was winning all night in this purple design along with the awards she received for Mom (which she rocks in by the way). It is sexy and yet also age appropriate and the color is so striking. Rack'em up gurl.

Sofia Vergara - She of course looked amazing in this white dress - enough to stand on a rotating pedestal while the EMMY guy gave his spiel. Though the stunt has been criticized the dress is remains free of criticizing. She claimed her boyfriend Joe Maginello was too hot for the red carpet. I think she didn't want any attention taken away from her. I mean his character died on True Blood, way to be there for your man.

Uzo Aduba - It maybe because we are so used to her hairstyle and jumpsuit from Orange is the New Black but Uzo looked absolutely fabulous in this. She rocked her ruffled, trailing gown like Crazyeyes rocks the crazy.

Julia Louis Dreyfus - She beamed in this sharp dress by Carolina Herrera. Though simple, I thought she looked beautiful in it and somehow it reminded me a little of her character Selina Meyers but maybe because of the patriotic red. She keeps winning statues anyway.

Laverne Cox - She made history by being the first nominated transgender to walk the red carpet and she did it justice. She is a vision in white from head to toe. I agree with Kelly Osborne that she looks like a princess.

Heidi Klum - She donned a coral frock by fellow Project Runway Judge Zac Posen. The gown was modern, fun and conservative, especially for Heidi!!! (No legs, no boobs, and no back shown). Way to remind everyone exactly why you deserve to be kicking people off as a judge. Zac looks cute too but those curls....

Worst Dressed
Lena Dunham - Oh gurl. I like that you are trying different things and taking risks but this is getting out of control in a elongated pink tutu with a awkward blouse kind of way. The hair is so severe. Your personality is super cute though.(Source: AP Images)
Kerry Washington - Ok, so while I love Miss Washington I don't love what she is wearing by Prada. The color looks great on her but I don't know about the bedazzled piping and the visible bejeweled navy slip. I think this was simply a bit of a miss and that is because normally she sets the bar so high.

Christina Hendricks - So while I like the idea of an Indian inspired gown this just didn't play out the way I wanted it to. The dress, while pretty, looks a little tortured. Red is an extremely hard color for redheads to pull off. I am not saying it can't be done but it takes a certain shade or tone to do so. I would have loved to have seen her in blue, emerald or even purple. Next time call Sandhya honey.

Claire Danes - So I am not crazy about this dress. I like specific elements but put all together I think it kind of looks a little hot mess. It is almost as if they asked Carrie Bradshaw to show up wearing red and this is what happened. I like the lace cutouts and the ruby embellishments around the neck. The shape does nothing for her body. I didn't see the back until later which is what really makes this dress. That said, we don't walk down the red carpet backwards now do we. I am also considering the possibility it is soooo French that I just can't wrap my little American head around it.

The Men
Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson - I simply loved his dark blue tux and only loved it more when you realized he and Woody coordinated their formal wear. I also like that they opted for black shirts instead of white.

Kit Harrington - I know that we all love his flowing locks (the love locks) but I actually like that he slicked it back into the man bun. He wore a classic Armani Tux with Jimmy Choo shoes. You know nothing, Jon Snow - well maybe a little something.

So what did you think? Were you rooting for Breaking Bad? Modern Family? Did the Sherlock win surprise you?
